 2023 Preview 


       University Charter School finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year University Charter School finished sixth in Class 1A region three with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Trail Blazers suffered through the first losing season in the school's history in 2022. No team at University Charter School ever won more games in a season than the two victories last year. The 162 points scored by the Trail Blazers last year were a team record in a single season. The defense allowed a team record 319 points last season. The Trail Blazers have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Trail Blazers have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2023.

       University Charter School was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Trail Blazers want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.2 points a game.

       The Trail Blazers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-8 record.

       University Charter School is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only one seasons. They have managed a record of 2-8 over the past one years.




       The Trail Blazers are led by head coach Sam Mosley who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at University Charter School. The Trail Blazers saw improvement from a 0-0 record the season before coach Mosley arrived. The Trail Blazers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Mosley.

       The Trail Blazers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season. After just 2 wins last year, University Charter School will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

       The Trail Blazers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Hubbertville on Friday, August 25 at Wiley Hollingsworth Stadium. Last year the Hubbertville Lions finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 1A region five. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Lynn by a score of 44-14.

       University Charter School and Hubbertville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Trail Blazers have a 1-1-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2022 with Hubbertville winning by a score of 18-8.

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
